YouTube Expands Auto-Dubbing to More Creators and Languages

YouTube is taking a big step forward with its auto-dubbing feature, rolling it out to more creators and languages as part of its ongoing push to broaden content accessibility. Announced during its “Made on YouTube” event, YouTube is adding this audio translation tool to new markets later this year. Originally introduced in 2022, the feature, called Aloud, automatically dubs content into different languages, allowing creators to reach global audiences more easily. The system not only translates text but also includes automated audio, which has been a key technical challenge for Google. With this expansion, more creators will soon be able to activate this function, potentially unlocking whole new audience segments by breaking language barriers. This AI-driven feature could help foster international connections and boost local engagement by making content more inclusive.

Reddit Launches Top Ads Library to Assist Marketers

Reddit is now helping marketers with its new Reddit Ads Inspiration Library, a tool designed to showcase top-performing ads from the platform. The library allows advertisers to explore successful campaigns across various verticals, offering insights into what resonates with Reddit’s audience. Unlike Meta’s transparency-focused ad library, Reddit’s version follows in TikTok’s footsteps by emphasising creative inspiration. Users can filter results by keyword, ad budget, format, placement, and objective, giving them a clear understanding of successful strategies in their specific market. When tapping on any example, Reddit even highlights the top three creative best practices that contributed to the ad’s success. This new resource can be a game-changer for marketers seeking to refine their strategies and achieve better results on Reddit.

Instagram Implements Advanced Protections for Teen Users

As concerns grow around youth exposure to harmful content on social media, Instagram is stepping up its efforts to protect teens. The platform has introduced a suite of new protections designed to create a safer environment for younger users, automatically opting all teens into a more restricted mode. This includes several key updates:

  • Private Accounts: All teens are defaulted into private mode, and those under 16 will need parental permission to switch to public accounts.
  • Messaging Restrictions: Teens can only receive direct messages from people they already follow or are connected to.
  • Sensitive Content Controls: The most restrictive settings are now automatically applied to what teens can view.
  • Interaction Limits: Teens can only be tagged or mentioned by people they follow, while offensive content is filtered out by default.
  • Time Limits: Teens receive notifications to log off after 60 minutes of daily usage.
  • Sleep Mode: Automatic between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., this setting mutes notifications and sends automated replies to direct messages.

In addition, Instagram gives teens more control over their experience by allowing them to select topics they want to see in their Explore feed. These updates mark a significant move in Instagram’s efforts to address the growing discourse around social media’s impact on younger users.
