Pitch Battle

Pitch Battle

Pitch Battle was a singing show hosted by Mel Giedroyc on BBC One. It began airing on 17th June 2017 where we saw rival musical groups facing-off against each other. The series was inspired by the 2012 film, Pitch Perfect. Thirty of the country’s best choirs and vocal groups would battle it out in a series of sing-or-be-sung-off vocal challenges.

The series was hosted by Mel Giedroyc and she was joined each week by judges Gareth Malone and Kelis and series music director Deke Sharon.

Network: BBC One
Production Company: Tuesday’s Child Television Ltd.

Our Brief

Pitch Battle, that aired on BBC One, had its own social media handles across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram which were managed by BBC internally. We were asked to attend filming to collect assets for the team to edit and share. These assets included: stills, interviews, 360 footage, boomerangs and behind the scenes moments.

We used backstage footage to give fans that little bit extra. Continuously using the #PitchBattle hashtag to promote the show and improve our discoverability.

Of course, once the show ended we plugged the re-runs and the official playlist on YouTube. Ensuring that the conversation continued post-TX.

These shorter shout-outs were great for our audience and allowed us to tag the handles of the performers. This supported them and gave them our tweets more substance. This was a more fun and chatty way of engaging our younger audience.
