Facebook has made a major change in that way business pages’ look to its audiences. Since April the social network have been testing the use of a video as a cover image. It seems that we will soon have the feature of being able to upload a cover video to engage our audience rather than a cover image. Facebook have been tapping into how video content is rotated around the platform. Other video features provided by Facebook are video profile images, Facebook live, video ads, Facebook stories and more.
Here is Facebook’s Official Statement:
“We recently started testing the ability on desktop to upload a video as the Page cover. Once a cover video has been created, video will render when people visit the Page.
By making cover video available, we want to help you create more engaging interaction and drive more rich experience for your audience by letting you spotlight your creative content in one of the most prominent space: your Page cover.
The feature is still in early testing, but we expect to roll it out more widely soon. We appreciate your patience and support while we improve on this feature to bring cover video available to you soon.”
Users will be able to upload in the same way they upload the usual Facebook cover photo. Facebook suggests that these cover videos should be 820 x 312 pixels. The cover videos can be 20-90 seconds long and loop however you wish. The video automatically starts playing when someone visits the page.
Make sure to keep your eyes out for this new feature as Facebook will continue to reveal it on more and more pages.
