5 Benefits of Blogging For Your Business
As a keen blogger myself, it’s easy for me to shout about the joy of blogging. However, it’s not just the joy of blogging that makes so many of us sit down, spend the time to write and publish our work. There are probably hundreds of reasons why people blog but I identify with five. These five reasons all relate to my business, not the personal benefits, and I thought I’d share them with you to help you fully understand what blogging for your business can do…
1) SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
This is probably the most obvious and frequent reason people start blogging for business; they want to be the top of the search engine and increase traffic to their websites. Regularly blogging on your website (or on other sites that link to your website) will dramatically increase your chances of being ranked by search engines. Good, quality content will boost your visibility and credibility to get you found! Make sure you write about relevant topics and try to incorporate keywords/search terms that relate to your industry.
2) Show Your Expertise
It’s time to shine! The more you share your thoughts, opinions and impart your expertise, the more people will trust you, buy from you and refer to you. Blogging for your business allows you to quickly share your knowledge, educate your audience and in turn promote your business. The more frequently you blog and the more places you posts, the more you will find yourself attracting press, other media and readers – you become an authority in your field.
3) Gives You Something To Talk About
Let face it, sometimes it can be hard to think of things to post on your Social Media or in your Newsletter. If you start blogging, your content gives you plenty to talk about & share. Sitting down once and writing a quick blog is a lot easier than thinking of new things to say daily on Social Media. Use your blogs as a talking point, share different key elements and incorporate your content into your newsletter. This ensures your content gets read but also that you have something to share regularly.
At the very least, blogging is a fast brand awareness exercise. Posting on relevant platforms, sharing with other Social Media accounts and starting conversations are great ways of getting your blog & brand out there. Many people focus too much on the hard, direct sales approach but forget about the benefits of soft selling and building loyalty, awareness and reputation through providing your blog as a resource. Let your words promote your brand and gain you exposure.
5) Encourages Repeat Business
Finally, with all of the above element s supporting your business, blogging will also help you encourage repeat business. It keeps you fresh in clients’ minds, shows them more of your expertise and promotes your extended services/products (you’d be surprised how many clients don’t know about all your other offerings).
So there you have it, there’s more reasons to be blogging for your business than just to share your musings!
